Spotlight How-To

Altered Tin Christmas Ornament
by Melonie Madison {}

This ornament is super easy to make. I promise you the hardest part is waiting for the paint to dry!

Simple steps:
*Using a piece of sand paper, gently rough-up both sides and the edges of a small Scissor Sisters alterable tin
*Choose an acrylic paint color that you love and paint your tin
*Once it has dried, decorate the front and back to your liking. (I glued a red Scissor Sister blossom to the center of a black S.S. daisy. I finished it off with a fabric sticker center from the SEI Hippie Chick fabric tags.)
*Next, I doodled the word Christmas to give it a little more interest
*For the inside, cut a 2" x 10.5" strip of cardstock and fold it accordian style. Glue one end to the inside top of the tin and the other to the bottom inside
*Using your photo editing program print your pictures out 1.5" x 1.5" and adhere them to the strip
*Cut a small piece of Kitty fiber long enough to make the ornament hang on the tree. Using a hot glue gun, attach it to the front of the tin while the tin is opened
*Finally, for protection the ornament, it can be sprayed lightly with clear acrylic spray after the paint dries and your doodles have been added

Supplies used in this project:

Scissor Sister Alterable Tin- small
Kitty's Fiber
Scissor Sister Sweet Bella Blooms
Cardstock
4-6 cute pictures
sand paper
Acrylic Paint<
